Digital Storytelling - How to create engaging Audio-Visual shows.


Introduction
Audio visual are a popular form of entertainment and used extensively in education and training. The audio visual often consisted a pair of projectors with a control unit that caused the slides to change in time to a sound track. Crossfading from one projector to the other enabled a limited range of visual effects. Today, the same results can be achieved with a variety of software, that offered a much greater range of special effects.Audio visual slideshows of the nineteen seventies, have evolved into a new genre: Digital Storytelling.
Objective
The objective of this presentation is to introduce the key features of a modern audiovisual show:Format
The presentation, workshop and overall format is being resigned with the intention of being ready for Autumn 2020.The first part is an interactive presentation will introduce the basics of digital storytelling; the principles of effective special effects. (Including the notion of the ‘third image’.
Some important design choices are still being made, including the choice of editing software and how to run the presentation as a teleconference, eg Zoom.
Outcomes
Club members learn the core principles of a digital story.Encourage members to create Digital Stories of their own.
The small-group working means that members have the chance to speak with each other throughout the evening.
